How To Identify Spider Problems

spider raleigh removal critter controlSpiders

In the Triad area, we have dozens of species of spiders, many of which bite or can become a nuisance. Spiders are of the arachnid class. These are eight-legged animals that also include scorpions and harvestmen (like daddy longlegs).

Spiders mostly feed off of insects and will set up webs or simply lie in wait for prey. They are fairly small (roughly the size of insects) and have exoskeletons.

Problems Caused by Spiders

Humans have evolved to have a distinct fear of spiders and for a good reason. Venomous spider species exist across the world and have caused our ancestors trouble over the centuries. Some have strong enough venom to even be deadly. In the Triad region, we only have two dangerous spiders. Neither is likely to be fatal to someone who has been bitten, but the bites cause harm and need to be immediately treated.

The brown recluse and black widow both have strong enough venom to be dangerous to humans. Their bites can injure, and in rare instances, kill a person. No other common spider in Winston-Salem, Greensboro, High Point, Burlington, Kernersville or the surrounding areas is dangerous but may be considered pests because of their annoying bites, their sticky webs, and their frightening appearance.
